Free Seminar on Battery Storage for Resilience: Oct. 6 in Roanoke

The Roanoke Superintendent, state energy and emergency management officials, and leadership of our company will outline the historic solar + battery storage project now underway at Roanoke City Public Schools (RCPS) during a panel discussion on Tuesday, October 6 starting at 9:30 am to be held at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke.
This exciting project, which has received extensive coverage in local news media and beyond, will add battery energy storage as clean backup power for one or more emergency shelters located at campuses of Roanoke Schools. The project received a $450,000 Shelter Fund grant from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.
This funding is also currently available to other schools and local government facilities that serve as emergency shelters.
The event will introduce the energy storage project, talk about why other K-12 school divisions should consider adopting the model, and share ideas on applying for the shelter grant and finding funding from other sources.
From 9:30 to 11:30 am on October 6, attendees will have the chance to hear from the leading school administrator and state officials involved in the project:

The panel discussion will be moderated by SSF CEO Tony Smith and will offer time for questions from the audience, along with time afterwards for attendees to talk one-on-one with panelists.
The event is open to the public and there’s no cost to attend. But we are requesting that people who’d like to come RSVP by Friday, October 2 via email to erik@securesolarfutures.com.
