Grant Funding for BESS at Emergency Shelters in Virginia

Solar Leadership Circle invitation

Roanoke City Public Schools received $450,000 from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to add battery energy storage to one or more of the emergency shelters hosted by the school division.

The good news for other schools and local governments: this funding is still available. On Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 9:30 am, join us for a panel discussion about the Roanoke project and how other schools can put together a winning application for grant funding from VDEM and other sources. Free and open to the public. RSVP to erik@securesolarfutures.com.
